I started my career in security by subscribing to HackTic and trying and reading stuff, and I even got caught once. The one day my then manager showed up and asked me: "What do you know about firewalls?", and just like that I was responsible for security of a datacenter company.
Since then I worked as a security officer, was the head of a commercial Security Operations Center, a security consultant (for a short time), a security officer and now a CISO and fought DDoS attacks and traced criminals.
Furthermore I've been at DIVD from the start where I founded the csirt, acted as crisis manager, worked on some prominent cases and started "Het Nederlands Security meldpunt" to force our government into action.
