A showcase of creative Web of Things use cases - hoping to combat reliance on cloud services and "Works with Alexa" in the realm of Internet of Things
"Works with (Amazon) Alexa" or "Works with Hey Google" are expressions of how fragmented the market of Internet of Things is. Those who want to automate their devices, are often faced with complicated compatibility matrices, cloud services and short-lived support cycles.
The W3C seeks to counter fragmentation of the Internet of Things, finding common ground and enabling long-term support.
As a hobbyist, I've been developing the Web of Things standards for many years. I've developed a server and a client which I will showcase along with a general introduction to the standards.

Christian loves to develop open source software, attends conferences like FOSDEM and has worked in various startups. For the past 7 years, his professional focus has been on the Matrix protocol but he's had an eye on other open standards like Web of Things and ActivityPub - building integrations and prototype servers for the joy of experimenting. He lives in Berlin and is looking forward meeting some of you at WoT week later this month.
