What does the GDPR protect? What are the principles of data protection? What is personal data? When can you process personal data legally? What is the difference between a Data Processor and a Data Controller? Do you need a Data Protection Officer? What are the rights of the data subjects? How to read a EU court verdict on data protection. Who is Max Schrems? Who is your Supervisory Authority and what do they do?","description":"The GDPR is a complicated piece of legislation that impacts everyone that stores or processes personal data. The regulation and its predecessor directive 95/46/EC have been around since 1995 but we are still running into fundamental questions all the time. Because of the complexity of the law and the many many ways in which we all deal with data, it is often not clear if and how the law applies, and if certain technical and procedural measures are adequate to comply with the law. Consequently, we read a lot of misinformation about the GDPR. Even law firms often don't get this right. This workshop will be an in-depth introduction into the GDPR and will explain the basics of GDPR compliance in terms that hackers can understand.","duration":180,"slot_count":1,"content_locale":"en","do_not_record":false,"image":"http://program.why2025.org/media/why2025/submissions/JVAJSK/robot_reading_gdpr_LnDvkMZ.png","resources":[],"slots":[13071],"answers":[]}
